Kareem Alleyne is a graduate of the University of the West Indies Cavehill Campus, Barbados, and the Hugh Wooding Law School, Trinidad and Tobago. In 2016, he was called to the Bar in the jurisdictions of Saint Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago. As such, Kareem is a member of the Saint Lucia Bar Association and the Trinidad and Tobago Law Association.

His experience in Trinidad and Tobago was diverse and varied, having appeared in and given legal advice at the Magistrate’s Court, High Court, Court of Appeal and Industrial Court primarily in civil, family, conveyancing, employment, probate, company, commercial and criminal matters.

Kareem has also represented his home island of Saint Lucia as a Crown Counsel having experience in legal opinions and advice in complex matters including review of contracts, maritime matters, anti-money laundering and cyber-crime, treaties, conveyancing, memoranda of understanding at the regional and international levels among other areas. Kareem has also engaged in Civil litigation matters including administrative law, judicial review proceedings, , statutory interpretation, family law, employment law, personal injuries, tax and financial law, constitutional law, customs law and other areas dealt with by the state.

In private practice, Kareem currently practices primarily in conveyancing, administrative law, probate and succession, family law and other areas in the civil sphere with particular interest in and passion for intellectual property, company law, corporate law, employment and labour law.

An avid writer, Kareem has contributed articles and reviewed publications as a member of the Publications Committee of the Saint Lucia Bar Association. He is passionate about the development of intellectual property law in Saint Lucia with respect to patents, and intellectual property rights for artistes, athletes, creatives, agriculturists, businesses and industrial development in general.  In this vein he has also attained certifications from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
